Camping 10 September 2022

This was my 2nd time camping. Iโ€™ve always wanted to visit Algonquin Park! And I feel like to get the full experience is to immerse yourself in nature. There is definitely something magical about being there. Your view is a divine panoramic view of the park. Day or Night there are beautiful views. It is perfect for all you star grazers!

My husband and I stayed at Canisbay Lake Campground. Again, I canโ€™t say that I am one to camp, this was only my 2nd time so itโ€™s hard to say it if was good or not. In my opinion it actually wasnโ€™t too bad! There was a nearby cafe/restaurant where they sold breakfast/lunch/ ice cream and even got to have my morning cappuccino.

There were still some decent luxuries like showers and working bathrooms. Iโ€™m very picky with that kind of stuff and this site wasnโ€™t the worst! Maybe it was because it wasnโ€™t as busy this weekend but they seemed to keep up with cleaning maintenance. Also a warningโ€ฆ The nights were very cold! So bring lots of layers and heavy blankets!

My husband goes camping often and he has stayed at other grounds around there such as Pog Lake, and others have recommended Lake of Two Rivers. This is the link to the campsite we stayed at but you can explore lots of parks and activities on the Algonquin park website. https://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/visit/camping/canisbay-lake-campground.php

Hiking Trails

1.Spruce Bog Boardwalk

Our 1st stop was an easy trail: Spruce Bog Boardwalk Trail. It was a unique quick 1.5km loop through a forest and across the bog. The whole thing took about 25-30 min.

2. Track and Tower Trail

Since the 1st trail was short and sweet, we had the time and did a more challenging and longer hike at Track and Tower Trail. It says itโ€™s 7.5 km but if you want to go to the look out itโ€™s almost 10km and lots of stairs going up but it was well worth it the view! It maybe took us around 2.5-3hrs to complete the trail. This trail does have some difficult terrain, lush forests, beautiful running rivers, and lots of clearing where you can view the lakes. Overall, really enjoyed this hike, I didnโ€™t feel overwhelmed or get too bored of walking!

Day Time Activities

After a rewarding walk we decided to get ice cream for lunch at that same restaurant as before.(everything was around 20min of its self)

We made it back to the camp site got changed and headed to the beach! We had stunning views from our beach. It was a 10min walk from our camp site but nothing too bad. (We booked late and our camp site was a little further back).

Other Activities we didnโ€™t get around too..

  • Canoe Rentals
  • Lake of Two Rivers Bike Rentals (located beside the restaurant we went to breakfast)

Camping Meals

Day 1: We left late so just ate dinner up there. We made hamburgers and tomato and cucumber salad for dinner!

Day 2 Breakfast at: Lake of Two Rivers Store and Cafe https://g.page/LOTRStoreCafe?share

Lunch: Had Ice cream! Just did a long hike so felt like something refreshing!( definitely not the most nutritious

Night 2 Dinner: Speducci with zucchini in a aluminum foil paper pouch. And nachos over the fire.

Donโ€™t forget the marshmallows!

Evening & Night

Nights were relaxing! One night we went to the beach to go watch the harvest moon. It lit up the whole sky. The only down fall was it was pretty hard to see the stars if you are into star gazing. That was one of the main reasons I wanted to go to Algonquin.

Sunset View at Canisbay Beach

The second night we just relaxed and hung out by the camp fire. We were exhausted after the long hike during the day. But the stars were much brighter and less light pollution from the moon. We roasted marshmallows and saw shooting stars.

Final Thoughts..

The whole trip made me feel like a kid again, just playing in nature and not having any worries. For more stories and videos check out my Instagram
